Sensex today | Stock Market LIVE Updates on Monday, October 20, 2025: Indian stock markets saw fireworks on Dalal Street, on the occasion of Diwali 2025, as benchmark indices leapt over half a per cent in early trade.
The BSE Sensex index gained 661 points or 0.8 per cent at open to trade at 84,614, while the Nifty50 surged 191 points or 0.74 per cent to trade at 25,901.
Kotak Mahindra Bank, Reliance Industries, Axis Bank, HDFC Banl, and Bajaj twins were the top gainers on the Sensex index today, rising up to 3 per cent. ICICI Bank, however, was the top loser (down 2.2 per cent) as investors booked profit in the stock following its Q2 results. Ultratech Cement, and M&M were the other losers.
In the broader markets, the Nifty MidCap index was up 0.66 per cent and the Nifty SmallCap index 0.19 per cent. The Bank Nifty index hit fresh record highs today, rising 0.7 per cent. Other sectoral indices were also in the green, led by the Nifty IT, Private Bank, and Pharma indices (up 0.7 per cent each).
