The FCC has set a deadline of January 12, 2026 for objections to its dismissal of a series of older TCPA-related Petitions for Reconsideration and Applications for Review as identified in its Ninth Further Notice of Proposed Rulemaking; Seventh Further Notice of Proposed Rulemaking; Further Notice of Proposed Rulemaking; and Public Notice (Public Notice) in CG Docket No. 17-59, WC Docket No. 17-97, CG Docket Nos. 02-278 and 25-307; FCC 25-76, released on October 29, 2025.
These filings have remained dormant for several years dating back from 2012 to 2021, concerning issues the FCC now views as likely outdated or mooted by technological changes, shifting consumer behavior, or subsequent regulatory developments. As part of a broader effort to streamline its docket and reduce backlog, the Commission is giving affected petitioners one final opportunity to indicate whether they wish to continue pursuing these matters.
If you have a petition on the FCC’s dormant TCPA list and want to keep it alive, now’s the time to act. Send in comments or objections by the deadline to avoid having your filing swept out with the rest of the year-end cleanup.
